At LYBS, in our Primary School, Grades 1-5, we teach the Chinese National Curriculum (CNC), using Chinese and English as the languages for inquiry in our bilingual and integrated classes.
Our teaching begins with the premise that students are agents of their own learning and partners in the learning process. Therefore, students are empowered to develop various capabilities. To guide them in this journey, we have articulated a foundation curriculum, an inquiry curriculum and an extended curriculum aiming at supporting our students develop as global citizens through the cultivation of intercultural mindedness founded on conceptual understanding and inquiry learning.
Our school provides students with the learning experiences needed, so that they develop their distinct academic, social and emotional well-being, focusing on the rich Chinese heritage and deeply embedded social values. At LYBS, we nurture our students’ independent learning skills, encouraging each one of them to take responsibility for their learning. Consequently, learning at LYBS is a path through discovery, a process that invigorates learning and teaching within the Chinese National Curriculum and transforms the school community and culture.
